Storyboard

Overview:

Video is a series of shots that when put together tell a story. The shots are organized into scenes. But where do the scenes come from? The director imagines what the scenes should look like. They visualize how the scene should be put together. They ask themselves “Where do we shoot the scene?” “What is our lighting?” “Who is the cast?” These are a few questions asked by the Director.

The Director then draws out the answers onto a document called the Storyboard. Storyboards are used to help the director visualize the movie idea. They use the storyboard tool to help get the crew ready to shoot the movie.


Purpose of the Activity:

The purpose of the activity is to have the student(s) think about the scenes within the story and to create a document that will help shoot the movie. During the activity you will:

  • Become familiar with writing a script and storyboard
  • Experience a brainstorming session
  • Analyze the results and identify limitation
